Another trip down to Singapore

Was down in Singapore for yet another business trip recently .... and had a chance to do some sight-seeing during the weekend ! Thank goodness ....
Well, went over to Sentosa Island for the weekend and had a little "sight seeing" ....
The journey started off with me takng the cable car from Harbour Front over to Sentosa Island
Not really worth the $ - its such a short trip and costs me about S$10.90 - less than 15 minutes ! Not much view too as most surroundings were under construction ... maybe bad timing ?
Upon arrival, its quite misleading ... no proper signs upon the cable car arrival hall ... but we did managed and head straight to the Dolphin Lagoon (to watch the "pink" dolphin in action) and also proceeded to the Singapore famous Underwater world ... both entrance cost me S$19.90 ... a little bit expensive I would think to pay for the things that we are watching .... but anyway, still managed to snap some photos to share here !
The pink dolphin in action with her trainersThe famous underwater world tunnel !
Interesting deep sea fishes found in Underwater world
Its was already afternoon by the time we came out of the underwater world and since its still quite early, went for a stroll near the "New" MERLION .... BIG !

And of course the "Famous" beaches around Sentosa Island - namely Siloso Beach, Pahlawan Beach and also Tanjong Beach. Siloso was filled with tourists especially "Mat Salleh", Pahlawan and Tanjong were more locals ... so it depends on what is the flavour for the day when you visit here .......
Siloso Beach with its foreigner crowd ...
Cafe Del Moar ... the very "Hip" bar on beach ... the place to be when you are there to be seen !
Pahlawan Beach
Tanjong Beach
Some other attractions around the island :-

Songs of the Sea - the place where lights meets music .... performance at night ! remember to book early especially during the weekends cos its always full ....

Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2008

Its finally over last month ! The once a year event for publishers .... Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2008 .... lasted for 10 long days ~
Its business as usual during the event but definately more things to do lah ..... the best part for me would be taking this opportunity meeting with other publishers that we seldom meet in our daily work and to catch up with any latest development and news in this industry.

Our booth .... looks nice ?

Priceless Possession

This is what I get after 8km + 2 km of climb up hill (7hours + 3 hours of climbing), few months training before the event, showering in the coldest shower ever, paying almost RM900 (inclusive of air-tickets and etc) for the whole trip .... endless sleepless nights in the cold ....
MY PRICELESS POSSESSION !!!!!

and of course the memories, fantastic views, and self achievements do count too .....

Mount Kinabalu - 27 March 2008

This is the view of mount kinabalu from far ..... the mountain that we will be climbing the next day, upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu on 27 March 2008. This time around is the real deal MOUNT KINABALU !
We were putting a night over at Mesilau Resting House the night before we begin our adventurous journey the next day ....
Everybody's spirit was high and confident .... still enjoying our meal down at the hill in Mesilau .... exicted yet worried about what is in store for us tomorrow during the climb. But first things first, need to energized our stomach with food first before we use up all the energy the next morning on the climb .... he he he
The resting house we stayed in Mesilau, nothing fancy but a place that we can get a good night sleep and re-chraged ourselves before the climb (hot bathing water is a issue though !!!!)
Morning is here and we wre all ready for the climb after breakfast .....
Photos after photos were taken during the first few km of the climb as all were still very fresh and excited .... will see what happened to all later !
Part of the view along the Mesilau trail up Mount Kinabalu ... much more interesting if you compared to the Timpohon trail ! Never regreted taking this longer and more difficult trail !

The "Japanese Graden" trail through Mesilau.... very beautiful scenery.

There is even a hanging bridge across a stream up the hill .... time for a photo please .......
Getting colder as we went higher. You can see the midst ?
The Pitcher Plant .... catching insects in its "bowl" as food .... interesting !

Already 5km through the Mesilau trail and its this junction that links us back to the same trail as Timpohon to reach to the top of Mt Kinabalu.
steeper steps leading to the top ..... another 3 km to go for Laban Rata.
As we got higher plants and trees changed according to the climate ..... no leafy trees instead of branches only .... really interesting how nature works.
At last after 8km of climb, we reached Laban Rata, the first "pit-stop" to rest before we adjourned to the peak the next monring ...... I reached there at around slightly over 3 pm (not too bad !)

Took some peak shots from Laban Rata and Gunting while waiting for dinner .... he he he ..... the view down was really nice .... its as though we are above the clouds .... on top of everything !
Dinner served at about 7-8pm, and everybody should be resting by 9pm in order for them to be ready for the climb to the peak the next morning at about 2-3am ....... I can just describe my feeling that night and morning = TIRED !
The climb to the peak took another 2-3 hours, and I managed to reached the peak just in time for the sunrise !

Picture of VICTORY ! Reached "Low's Peak" at just about before 6am , 28 March 2008 ..... historical moment in my life !

Low's Peak - 4095.2m !!!!!! 8km + 2 km from hill to the top !!!! An achievement well done.

Whatever happens after that is no longer important as the view was breathtaking ....... nothing can describe the feeling but be there yourself to experienced it !!!!
I will let all the photos below speaks for itself .........

We have conquered Mount Kinabalu !
