CRAZY Jakarta !

The one thing that i can remember clearly and will be stuck in my mind for a very long time about Jakarta will be the CRAZY traffic jams around almost everywhere and at almost anytime !!!!! Cars lining up on highways, roads in a bumper to bumper situation (very stressfull-lah) I thought KL traffic jam was bad but its nothing compared to the one in Jakarta !

Come to think about it, with a population of almost 10million people in Jakarta (and from local sources, another 1 million people coming into Jakarta from the samller cities every year) its not strange to have this kind of traffic around. And that alone is not the only concern when you have got that kind of population in a city, beggars and homeless children on the streets, robbery, killings etc. are more serious issues that need to be address.

I have found out that the cost of living in Jakarta is not cheap too ! Its similar to Singapore where I found most of the things expensive at shopping malls. Taxis are expensive, food not cheap ..... how can people still survive here with the minimum wages that they are earning ?

Anyway on the brighter side of things, in Jakarta we can find lots of international brands inside shopping mall, cool night-spots to chill out, nice eating places and of course very good hotels ... like the one that I stayed - The Sultan, Jakarta (previously known as Hilton) right in the middle of the city !

One of the eating place that we went for dinner ! Nasi Padang at this Natrabu restaurant somewhere away town ... can't really remember the name of the area.

Hard Rock Cafe in Jakarta, bought few T-shirts there and it cost me more than RM150 !!!!!! That is why I said the cost of living in Jakarta is expensive-lah..... :)

From Jakarta, i continued my journey out of the city and into the smaller town of Solo, using the local budget Indonesia airline - Adam Air !!!!!! (which for those of you who have not heard about this before, there was a recent plane crash of Adam Air flight into the deep sea and the plane was never found !) ..... I had to keep my fingers cross throughout the whole journey !

You can turn painful situations around through laughter. If you can find humour in anything ..... you can survive it !
